Eminem denies assault charges against him

After months of public rowing the rapper Eminem and his wife Kimberly Mathers are to get back together.

The couple have put aside their problems to sign an agreement dismissing their respective divorce actions at Macomb County Circuit Court, Michigan.

Harvey Hauer, lawyer for the rapper, said: "They've been working on this for a while and they're really happy. It's going to be a happy holiday, a happy new year for them."

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, is on assault charges after allegedly pulling an unloaded handgun on a man who his wife kissed in the parking lot of a nightclub.

He has pleaded not guilty. The case is still pending.

The rapper filed for divorce after the incident. His wife claimed it was "an innocent kiss".

Mrs Mathers had sought divorce following the release of one of Eminem's songs, Kim, in which he detailed the fictional killing of his wife.

She also sued for defamation over the song and recently reached a settlement for her $10m (£6.8m) legal action.

Her lawyer, Neil Rockind said: "She's a very strong woman and a great mother. There have been very public ups and downs, but she says very positive things about Marshall and I have to respect that and take her at her word."

The couple's four-year-old daughter was a factor in the reconciliation.

"Kim is pleased that she and her husband have been able to set their differences aside, particularly for the sake of their daughter, Hailie Jade" said Mr Rockind.

The couple will continue to live in their $1.5m (£1.02m) home in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Eminem is battling it out for Christmas number one in Britain with cartoon character Bob the Builder and boy band Westlife.
