![]() Veteran performer: Sir John Mills
Actor Sir John Mills has launched a documentary, written and produced by his son, charting 25 years of his life.
Moving Memories features previously unseen footage put together from cine camera film found in Sir John's attic. It documents his life between 1946 and 1969 and features stars such as David Niven, Dirk Bogarde and Vivien Leigh.
The 92-year-old launched the video, Moving Memories, with his daughter Hayley on board HMS Belfast, which is moored on the River Thames next to Tower Bridge in London. The last time he was on board the shop was a week before D-Day in 1944 when he performed for its crew. Son Jonathan made the hour-long film from over 10 hours of footage. He said: "I immediately realised what could be made using these home movies - a unique way of telling my father's extraordinary life story." Sir John's film hits include Hobson's Choice, Ice-Cold In Alex and Ryan's Daughter, for which he won an Oscar for best supporting actor in 1971.
