Titanic actress Kate Winslet is the latest star to find her riverside home under threat from rising water, it has been reported.

Winslet and her husband Jim Threapleton own an island home in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.

Michael Parkinson

They are currently trying to protect their house with sandbags after the River Thames burst its banks.

The couple, who have a three-week-old baby Mia, told The Mirror they were staying put in the house - in the hope that the waters would soon recede.

The Environment Agency say conditions around the country are set to improve over the next few days - but there remains "considerable danger".

In parts of the country the waters have begun to go down. The number of severe flood warnings has dropped to 25.

River retreat

The Thames Valley is with in easy reach of London and is a popular area for stars to set up home.

Water levels have risen particularly high around Maidenhead, Berkshire.

More than 100 properties are thought to be in danger from the River Thames.

Winslet's neighbours Rolf Harris and Michael Parkinson are also affected.

They both have homes in Bray near Maidenhead, Berkshire.

TV presenter and singer Harris' home has been flooded, as it is situated on the river itself.

Chat show host Parkinson and his wife Mary have reportedly also laid down sandbags and moved their furniture upstairs.

Boyzone star Ronan Keating is another celebrity affected by the floods.

He has a home in Thames Ditton, Surrey, from where thousands of residents have been evacuated.
