Westlife star slates 'ugly' Aguilera
Westlife star Kian Egan (second left) squared up to Christina Aguilera
Westlife star Kian Egan has hit out at fellow pop star Christina Aguilera, branding her the "nastiest" and "ugliest" person he has ever met.
The Irish boy band star made the remarks about the American singer in the December issue of the BBC's Live & Kicking magazine. "She thinks she's better than everyone," he said. "I think she has a great voice, but I don't rate her personality or looks." His comments are the latest in a series of frosty exchanges in the music world - including the on-going war of words between Robbie Williams and Liam Gallagher.
When asked by the magazine about the nastiest person he had encountered, he replied: "Christina Aguilera. She got Mark moved out out of his seat at a club. "She told a bouncer to go over to him and tell him to move. Christina just stood behind him giggling." He added: "I don't know how she had the nerve. I could never do that. I'm not more important than the next person." Kian is not the only member of Westlife to take a swipe at a fellow pop star.
Earlier this week, the band's Bryan McFadden caused a stir when he criticised the Spice Girls and their new album, Forever. He claimed that his band's album was "better" and said of the Spice Girls: "They just don't have it anymore." Westlife are currently embroiled in a sales battle with the Spice Girls after both bands released their new albums on Monday. According to midweek figures, the boy band are on course to claim the number one spot. Their album, Coast To Coast, has shifted three times as many copies as Forever. The slanging matches follow Liam Gallagher and Robbie Williams's latest war of words at last month's Q Awards. Williams walked out of the ceremony after the Oasis star shouted a series of insults at singer Kylie Minogue, who sang with the 26-year-old on his single Kids.
