Moorland fires tackled
Firefighters tackling a grass fire at Belmont, Lancashire
Crews from both counties tackled a fire at Belmont
Fire fighters have tackled moorland fires in both Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

Crews in Lancashire battled to bring a blaze under control at Longridge Fell on Friday.

They also inspected other areas to check for further flare-ups, after a series of similar fires over the past week.

Rangers have said that the fells in North and South Bowland areas of the county will be closed to the public until 29 April because of the fire risk.

In Greater Manchester crews were damping down a fire at Saddleworth Moor.

Crews from both counties tackled a large moorland fire at Belmont, near Rivington, Lancashire, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It is one of hundreds of grass fires across both counties since the spell of warm weather began.
