In pictures: Seven horrors of Britain
The M25, Millennium Dome and Blackpool promenade have topped a BBC poll which asked people to name the 'seven horrors' of Britain.

The survey, by BBC Radio 4's Today programme, provides a stark contrast to a recent poll in which the public named the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye as being among the country's seven wonders.

And the much-maligned Millennium Dome was named the second worst place

Blackpool promenade ranked third with 265 votes
The poll suggests Blackpool is not everyone's cup of tea but it is popular, says the English Tourism Council

Heathrow Airport is not everyone's favourite place
Three out of the seven "horrors of Britain" were transport-related, including Heathrow

Birmingham New Street Station
Birmingham New Street Station came in at number five

The Arndale shopping centre, Manchester
The North West provided two of the "horrors" including Manchester's Arndale Centre

Sellafield nuclear reprocessing plant
Sellafield nuclear plant in Cumbria was voted the seventh horror in Britain
