Tokyo stock market

(Close): Tokyo shares edged higher on Monday as Asian shares shrugged off the disappointing US jobs figures released on Friday.

The Nikkei 225 index closed the day up 19.64 points at 9,808.99.

Watch and electronics parts maker Citizen rose 7.8% after the company raised its full-year profit forecast.

Banking shares lost ground. Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group fell 3.2% while shares in Mizuho Financial Group dropped 1.7%.
