(Close): The market closed up on Tuesday as worries over the debt situation in Dubai continued to ease.

The FTSE 100 rose 121.49 points, or 2.3%, to 5312.17 points.

Mining groups were the biggest gainers with Fresnillo up by 7.5% to 906.00p followed by Xstrata, which rose 6.3% to 1136.00p

The losers were led by Lloyds banking group, which fell 1.8% to 54.14p, and TUI Travel which dropped 1.1% to finish at 243.30p.
