(Close): France's main stock market had a lacklustre day Monday ending the day virtually flat.

The benchmark Cac 40 finished just 0.08% or 3.03 points lower at 3913.70

Alcatel-Lucent reversed earlier gains to be the days biggest loser. Its shares closed down 2.73% after a ratings downgrade.

On the positive side, car maker Renault was the day's big winner. Its shares rose 2.10%.
