Chinese holds most profitable title

The Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, the country's biggest commercial lender, has reported its quarterly profit jumped by 58%.

It also announced plans to raise billions of dollars in fresh capital after last year's stimulus-driven surge in lending.

ICBC and other Chinese banks have benefited from a stimulus-fuelled economic rebound that boosted Chinese growth in the fourth quarter.

They are isolated from global financial flows and largely avoided the credit turmoil that battered Western
