Vince Cable: Government has to be tough on RBS bonuses

Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman Vince Cable has called for Royal Bank of Scotland to disclose the names of high-earning executives.

Mr Cable said that as the UK taxpayer effectively owns the bank, staff with high remuneration packages should be publicly declared.

RBS has has announced losses for 2009 of £3.6bn but is set to announce that it will pay bonuses totalling £1.3bn to its staff.
