Thousands of people queued to get into Singapore's first casino on the resort island of Sentosa.

The casino is part of Resorts World Sentosa and was built by Malaysia's Genting for 6.6 billion Singapore dollars ($4.7 bn).

It is hoped the casino will attract new tourists, despite opening whilst many countries are recovering from recession.

Sharanjit Leyl reports.
