Barclays to pay 2bn in bonuses

Barclays bank is preparing to pay bonuses of more than £2bn to its staff, the BBC has learned.

The bank, which did not take any direct state help during the financial crisis, is expected to announce large profits for 2009.

Meanwhile the part-nationalised Royal Bank of Scotland is expected to pay out £1.3bn in bonuses.
