Fashion cutting its cloth to fit post-recession world

In the wake of the death of British designer Alexander McQueen, New York Fashion Week has opened in sombre mood.

The global financial crisis has forced consumers to reign in their spending, with haute couture being one of the casualties for many a former fashion queen.

Laura Trevelyan reports on how designers are coping with the post-recession world.
