Toyota's chief executive, Akio Toyoda, has apologised for the recall of hundreds of thousands more of its cars to fix a potential problem with their brakes.

Four models are affected - the newest version of the Prius, the Prius plug-in, the Lexus HS250h sedan and the Sai, which is only available in Japan.

Mr Toyoda said the company "would do everything in our power to regain the confidence of our customers".
