Murdoch and Berlusconi in Italian TV 'war'

Rupert Murdoch was due to launch a new television channel in Italy on 1 December in a move to challenge Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's media group.

The free-to-air Cielo channel was to be the latest salvo fired between News Corp and Mediaset in a rivalry described by the combatants as a "war" over audiences.

But a last-minute hitch meant the launch was delayed.
