The Chairman of the Treasury Select Committee, John McFall, has said the two biggest taxpayer supported banks, Lloyds and RBS, must be broken up.
The Treasury will publish its plans for the future shape of the banks on Tuesday, following pressure from competition regulators at the European Commission.
Mr McFall said it was a good move because customers are getting a bad deal at the moment.
