Darling: 'World economy still fragile'

Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling has said government borrowing is the best way to support the UK economy in the long run.

He warned it was too early to ''sit back and relax'' and said the world economy was still ''fragile''.

The government has pumped billions of pounds into the economy to try to stimulate demand during the recession.
