The search for 'green shoots'

In times of recession the language we use changes; the phrase credit crunch has been added to the lexicon and we have started using the word 'austerity' again.

'Green shoots' is another we are hearing a lot about, referring to indicators of economic recovery. Property sales, consumer spending and manufacturing output are often cited, but could we be more creative in where we look?

Jasmine Birtles of the financial advice website Money Magpie has been pondering that very question for Radio 4's You and Yours.
