US: AIG TO PASTRY CHEF

Former AIG worker and now pastry chef David Cisan reflects on the insurer's position

American insurer AIG was deemed "too big to fail" but it was given a $180 billion bail-out by the government during the financial crisis.

Worker David Cisan said it came as "a huge surprise", he has now left the company and retrained as a pastry chef.

China is avoiding recession with public works projects, including a 'drain' to move flood waters from the south to the drought-stricken north.

In five years' time, 10bn metres squared of water will pour through the tunnel. No one knows if it will actually work - but there is no doubt it will help the Chinese economy.
