The world's largest drug-maker has agreed to pay a record sum in the US to settle civil and criminal charges over how it marketed some of its products.

Pfizer will pay out $2.3bn (£1.4bn) after it admitted repeatedly trying to sell drugs to patients and doctors for uses not approved by regulators.

It is the biggest settlement by a pharmaceutical company for violations of federal rules.

Caroline Hepker reports from New York.
