UK unemployment highest since 1995

The number of people out of work has risen to its highest level since 1995, having reached 2.44m.

In the three months to June another 220,000 people lost their jobs, with a total of 7.8 percent of the workforce now unemployed.

The number of people claiming jobseekers' allowance has also risen to a 12-year high.
