'Shipbuilding's always been under threat'

Govan shipyard is celebrating as the first steel-cutting for the UK's two new aircraft carriers takes place at the site.

However the future of the yard is in doubt, after a leaked memo revealed plans that could see it, and the yard at Scotstoun, close after aircraft carrier work ends in 2014.

Kenny Carmichael is a fabrication manager at the Govan yard, and has worked there for 29 years. He is optimistic about the future despite recent uncertainties.
