The governor of the bank of England has taken the unusual step of going public about his unease over how the government is handling the country's massive debt.
Mervyn King told MPs that the Chancellor should be doing more to show how he plans to reduce public borrowing.
He said current plans were not "clear enough" and called on the government to show "greater ambition".
