Dear Chancellor...75bn please


The Bank of England has written to the Treasury to ask for permission to expand the amount of money in the economy by 75bn by so called 'quantitative easing'.

The BBC's Simon Jack explains that the idea is to increase the amount of money in the system, making it easier for commercial banks to lend.
