Money Matters: Financial comparison websites

According to recent research from Mintel, more than 19 million consumers have used a financial comparison website to help them find better financial products.

However, there are concerns that some comparison sites fail to make it clear that they only offer limited policy information. This could mean that important details about excesses or exclusions are missed.

The amount of commission sites receive when consumers use them to buy policies is also not always fully disclosed.

So how cautious should consumers be about using such sites?

You and Yours brought together Toby Clark from Mintel, Will Thomas from Confused.com and Clare Francis from Moneysupermarket.com.

BBC Radio 4's You and Yours was broadcast live from the Trafford Centre in Manchester as part of the BBC's Money Matters roadshow on Wednesday 18 February 2009.
