Dark day of job cuts for UK

Businesses around the UK announced more than 3,000 job cuts on Wednesday.

Barclays said a further 2,000 posts would close, on top of those announced on Tuesday, while entertainment chain Zavvi announced 18 more stores would close, affecting more than 350 staff.

Meanwhile Land Rover Jaguar said 450 jobs would go, and catalogue company Grattan has said it is in talks with staff over potential cuts.
