Airline boss confident in 2009

The chief executive of Virgin Atlantic has spoken of his confidence for the future of the airline industry, despite predictions of big losses in 2009 by trade experts.

Steve Ridgway said airlines would be able to attract passengers with the lowest fares ''since the 1980s.''
