Gloomy times for the UK retailers

Currys and PC World are the latest High Street names to be hit by the economic gloom. The group, which owns them both, reported a half-year loss of almost 30m.

Meanwhile today administrators have begun looking for buyers for Woolworths and MFI. But as Jon Kay reports their demise is not just bad news for the companies themselves.
