President Bush has defended the US Treasury's decision to invest $20bn (£13.4bn) in the troubled banking group Citigroup.
Addressing the media, alongside Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, Mr Bush said the decision was necessary to safeguard the US economy, and had been discussed with the President-elect Obama.
He also took the opportunity to thank Mr Paulson for his hard work saying " I Appreciate it. Thank you."
