Brown defiant as pound slides

The pound has continued to fall against the dollar. Less than a year ago, one pound would have bought two dollars but has now dropped to $1.54.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has repeated his belief that the way to boost the economy is to borrow more and spend more.
