US officials vow rescue plan

Officials from the US Treasury, Federal Reserve and Congress have met to discuss a plan to rid banks of the bad assets at the root of the current financial crisis.

US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke were among those in attendance.
