E.On defends energy price rises

Britain's third biggest energy supplier E.On is raising its gas prices for domestic customers by 26% and electricity prices by 16%, from 22nd August.

E.On's commercial director, Jim Macdonald, said the company had no alternative and blamed rising wholesale costs.
