Silverjet hopes to resume services "as quickly as possible"

Grounded business airline Silverjet is expected to be relaunched after its administrators agreed the terms of a deal with an investment company.

Irish-based Kingsplace said that if negotiations were successful, then it hoped to see Silverjet planes back in the skies "in a matter of weeks".

It intends to retain all staff and honour existing customers' tickets, the investment firm said.

Hit by soaring oil prices, Silverjet ceased operations last month.

When it suspended flights, just under 10,000 customers had to make alternative travel arrangements.

"We will be working around the clock to launch our New York and Dubai services as quickly as possible and we will make the announcement about the date for relaunching our services in due course," said Silverjet chief executive Lawrence Hunt.

Silverjet operated three aircraft on daily services between its base at London Luton and Newark Liberty International Airport and Dubai.
