Rentokil warned in February that its 2008 profits would be affected
Rentokil Initial has appointed a new team of bosses to try to revive the pest control-to-hygiene business.

John McAdam, the former chief executive of paint and chemical company ICI, is to take over as Rentokil's chairman.

He will be joined by two other former ICI directors, with Alan Brown becoming Rentokil's new chief executive and Andy Ransom becoming executive director.

They join Rentokil after it warned last month that problems at its City Link delivery unit would hurt profits.

Current Rentokil chief executive Doug Flynn and chairman Brian McGowan are leaving the firm with immediate effect.

Rentokil said in February that problems at City Link had been caused by efforts to integrate new acquisitions, and that it had appointed a new management team at the unit.
