Carphone Warehouse connected 3.6 million new mobile phones
Carphone Warehouse has reported 3.6% growth in like-for-like revenue in December, but only 1% growth for the last three months of 2007.

The number of connections rose to 3.6 million, up 11% up on the year before.

That figure is worse than the 15% that had been expected, but the company says its expectations for the whole of the year are unchanged.

There were no details given about the sales of Apple's iPhones in its stores. Carphone shares fell over 4%.

Weekend newspaper reports suggested that Apple had asked the retailer not to give sales figures for the device.

The phones were only available in the UK at Apple stores, O2 shops and in Carphone Warehouse.

The rate of people leaving the TalkTalk broadband service has not increased, despite significant numbers of customers reaching the end of their 18-month tie-in period.

Its shares ended the day down 0.98% at 301.75 pence.
