No break-up planned at Chrysler

Chrysler boss Tom LaSorda is sure there will not be a break-up

The Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge brands will not be broken up following the sale of Chrysler, which owns all three.

"These brands will not be broken up under any circumstances," said Chrysler Group's chief executive Tom LaSorda.

The comments came a day after its German parent company DaimlerChrysler announced it was selling most of the company to Cerberus Capital Management.

Mr LaSorda has been asked to stay on at Chrysler following the 5.5bn-euro ($7.41bn; £3.7bn) takeover.

He said he was looking forward to being able to take longer-term decisions under private ownership.

"I also look forward to pursuing other partnerships that are in the best interest of Chrysler," he said.

"We aren't big in Asia and we have no presence in India and we would like to grow in those two areas."
