UK medical equipment firm bought

Huntleigh's products include specialist hospital beds

Medical equipment firm Huntleigh Technology has agreed to be bought by Swedish firm Getinge for £409m ($802m).

Getinge is offering 480 pence per share for Huntleigh, a 28% premium to the closing share price on Thursday.

The purchase will enable the Swedish firm to add Huntleigh's expertise in hospital beds to its technologies in patient-lifting.

Getinge chief Johan Malmquist said the deal would help to create a "total bedside management [system]".

Huntleigh is involved in the design, manufacture and distribution of medical equipment world-wide. It has representation in more than 120 countries and a team of more than 700 sales and service personnel.
