Burberry, the UK fashion company whose checked designs are worn across the globe, has seen a 19% rise in sales.

The company said revenues increased to 135m ($248m) in the three months to the end of June, helped by a strong increase in Asian demand.

Sales in Asia rose by 30% to 41m, the company said. Burberry also benefited from opening new shops.

The earnings report is the first from the company since Angela Ahrendts took over as chief executive on 1 July.
