HSBC glitch delays worker payday
HSBC offices in Shanghai
The technical hitch also hit other corporate banking services
Pay day will be coming late for thousands of workers this month after computing problems at the world's third-largest bank, HSBC.

Employees at 1,900 UK companies have been affected and will receive their money on Tuesday rather than Friday.

According to a company spokesman the failure was a serious problem that has now been rectified.

HSBC said a number of other corporate banking services, as well as payroll, had also been compromised.

Earlier this month, HSBC unveiled the biggest profits ever by a UK High Street bank, making a pre-tax profit of 11.5bn in 2005.
