Welsh casualties in trade war
One of Wales' best known exports could become a casualty in the looming trade war between Europe and America.
From Ty Nant's ultra modern production plant in Ceredigion, west Wales, hundreds of thousands of the highly distinctive blue bottles are exported every year.
It is by far and away the most popular British mineral water in the United States.
Featured on TV
It has graced not only some of the best restaurant tables in America, but has even featured on some of its most well-known TV shows including "Frasier".
However, designer water is one European product that could now face a 100% increase in import duties in the US.
It is the latest move proposed by the Americans following the European Union's ban on hormone-treated beef from America.
Ty Nant sales director Nick Taylor says the company is very unhappy with the decision which affects their $1.5m US market.
"America is the largest single market outside the UK.
"It's such a large market, it's one which you have to give the time and effort to develop."
Ambassador here to promote trade
Ironically, the import sanction coincides with a visit to Wales by the US Ambassador, Philip Lader. He is here to promote trade between Wales and America.
The issue will be thrashed out in a round of international negotiations next Monday.
If a compromise is not found, Ty Nant could find its transatlantic success in jeopardy.
