Sanctuary sales hit right chord
The Strokes
The Strokes' Room on Fire album helped to boost sales
A Christmas number one and strong sales from albums by The Strokes and Belle & Sebastian have helped to lift profits at the Sanctuary music group.

The company reported pre-tax profits of 3.8m for the six months to 31 March, up from 3.4m a year ago.

The success of Gary Jules' cover of Mad World - last year's UK Christmas number one - helped to push group turnover up 41% to 89m.

The company also saw higher sales of DVDs and merchandising.

DVD sales were lifted by releases from artists such as Bob Marley, The Undertones and The Who.
