Japanese firm crashes into charts
Run, run Nihon Break Kogyo!

A tiny Japanese demolition business has smashed into the country's pop charts with what could mark a new low - or perhaps high - in novelty records.

Japanese music fans have been rushing to buy the company anthem of Nihon Break Kogyo.

Written in a punk music style with lots of shouting, the lyrics declare: "We will destroy houses! We will destroy bridges! We will destroy buildings!"

The firm released its anthem after being inundated with requests.

The song caught the eye of the nation after being played on a Japanese TV show.

Yokohama-based Nihon Break Kogyo, which employs just 16 full time staff, said it was fed up with the number of people phoning up to ask if they could buy a copy.

Mission accomplished

It said it was getting some 100 phone calls every day.

The company was also inundated with emails, after its website started getting more than one million hits a week.

Its tune has also now been made into a mobile phone ringtone, and Japanese karaoke companies are rushing to add it to their playlists.

Shogo Kurita, a Nihon Break Kogyo board member, said the song had succeeded beyond the company's wildest dreams.

"I think our company song has already achieved its mission," he said.
