Nr Nicholson holds a PhD in Work and Organisational Psychology. Previously, he worked at the Social and Applied Psychology Unit at the University of Sheffield, and held visiting professorships at universities in the US, Germany, Canada and Australia. He is known for his work on innovation, organisational change, risk in finance, leadership personality and career development. His current special interest is family business culture, and applications of the new Darwinism to business, which was the focus of his recent book Managing the Human Animal.
