Kenya Airways scrapes a profit

Kenya Airways has reported a 36% slump in profits but is proud of the fact is has stayed out of the red.

"The company will be one of the few airlines to have remained in profits over the past year," the company said in a statement.

The airline sector has been struggling with fewer passengers and higher insurance costs since disaster struck on 11 September.

The firm posted a profit of $1.1m (£0.75m; 1.2 euros), and estimated the effect of the terrorist attacks at $7.6m.

The African airline also points out that it faces an additional war risks insurance costs of about $4m, unlike its counterparts in the US and Europe.
