China dismisses criticism over currency

China has dismissed criticism that it is keeping its currency, the yuan, deliberately undervalued to boost Chinese exports.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said keeping the yuan stable was "an important contribution" to global recovery from the economic downturn.

He was speaking at the end of China's annual parliamentary session.
