Tsunami reporter: 'People felt the quake'

A tsunami triggered by a strong quake in the South Pacific has killed more than 100 people across a number of islands.

At least 77 people were reported dead in Samoa, more than 25 in American Samoa and at least six in Tonga.

Television New Zealand correspondent Lisa Owen is in the Samoan capital of Apia and she described how people ran to the hills in a bid to escape the tsunami.

She said in some parts of Samoa, away from Apia, there was little warning of the tsunami.
