Professional snipers have been brought in to guard a vulnerable colony of penguins in Sydney, Australia.
It follows the mysterious deaths of nine birds known as fairy penguins over the last two weeks.
The mutilated bodies of the animals were found in a national park near Sydney harbour.
Sally Barnes from the NSW Parks and Wildlife Service said the main suspects were dogs and foxes.
She said they had used a number of methods to protect the penguins and had even resorted to using shooters.
