Sports giant Nike in dock again
The giant American sportswear firm Nike has been accused of wilfully misleading the public about working conditions for the many thousands of workers in Vietnam, China and Indonesia who produce its shoes. Lawyers in San Francisco have filed a civil suit alleging that Nike's foreign workers face physical punishment and sexual abuse, and are overworked and poorly paid. It's the latest in a series of attacks on Nike over conditions at its Asian subcontractor factories. The company has repeatedly denied the charges. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
