North Korea has continued to increase tensions in the region by saying that it is no longer bound by the armistice which ended the 1950-53 war on the peninsula. The statement comes just days after it carried out an underground nuclear test.
It is also threatening to attack South Korea if any of its ships are stopped and searched by its neighbour. The South is joining the US Navy's anti-proliferation operation.
